A great trip for any James Bond fan, especially for a romantic day out with your Bond Girl, is the Schilthorn, the mountaintop restaurant where On Her Majesty's Secret Service was filmed. You need to go by train to Bern, then to Interlaken, then Murren, from where you can take the cablecar up. Magnificent view from 3000m up - you can see the famous peaks Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. The restaurant is very good and more affordable than I expected. If you can afford to splash out however, a great place to stay is the Hotel Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken. Very plush and Bond-like, it got a mention in one of John Gardner's James Bond novels, Never Send Flowers. James Bond spends a night there with a beautiful Swiss agent. Closer to the slopes and to the Schilthorn is the Hotel Eiger in Murren. Be sure to check before you go whether the Schilthorn restaurant is open. The cable car stops running in the late afternoon and now and again (usually in November) it is closed for maintenance.
