busy editing video and waiting for upload from a very slow satellite link aboard ship but I had to tell here straight away.

Today, off the coast of Nassau I finally got to dive a site called the "James Bond Wrecks"

The Vulcan from Thunderball is now nothing more than a scaffold and is being used as a coral nursery, lying in about 14 metres of crystal clear 29 degrees warm water, no need for a wetsuit.

you can make out the basic shape of what used to be the wings and cockpit.

a short swim away of less than 75 metres is the wreck of a cargo ship sunk for the off-canon Never Say Never Again. They call it "The Tears Of Allah" . I will have to try and watch that again because I dont remember the TofA being a ship but a cave location (in Pinewood)

most excellent diving.

off to Cozumel and Roatan next.. no bond locations i am aware of there ..

Congratulations. I wonder where FYEO did their underwater stuff (you may know).

Contact the Stuart Cove's Dive Shop, they are the go to contractor for underwater filming, probably world wide. They can arrange dives on all the Bond sites, including Thunderball, FYEO, and NSNA.

i always forget that the sequence in FYEO was shot in the Bahamas. having recently rewatched TB (for my podcast) I was wondering the boat wreck during the final confrontation... Is it an actual real wreck. Maybe it's a compliment to the filmmakers. but it sure seemed real to me. Even the one in NSNA looked like the real deal.

My understanding is there are, in addition to be Vulcan from Thunderball and the Atlantis set from FYEO, a couple of wrecks that were used in Bond and other films that the dive shop can take you diving on. With any luck, I'll get back to the Bahamas and get a chance to dive on these sites.
